Dyn-O-mite

Dyn-O-mite

or:  the American Dream

The war was over, the battle had just begun. In America’s darkest hour she would need her greatest hero. So, she built him.

That was the blurb I included on the promo poster for the Golden Age. While the powers that be at DC ignored it, it remained my guiding principle in designing Dyna-Man. He was more than an icon of patriotism but a shining example or American industrial might,

What better peace time image to suggest America’s industrial power than the automobile? Nose bullet, fender skirts, grill, portholes, hood ornament, he was built to look like a hunk of American steel straight out of Detroit because, “What’s good for General Motors is good for the USA.”
