or: Look What the Elves Left
Struggling to find something wise or comforting to say about Sri Lanka. It’s getting to a point where nothing surprises us anymore and there’s nothing left of our hearts to break.
All I can think of is the late Rodney King… “It's just not right, because those people will never go home to their families again. And uh, I mean please, we can, we can get along here. We all can get along. We just gotta. We gotta. I mean, we're all stuck here for a while. Let's, you know, let's try to work it out. Let's try to beat it, you know. Let's try to work it out.”

Terrible tragedy. It's hard

Terrible tragedy. It's hard to wrap one's brain around hateful zealotry, cloaked in religious themes. Some would say it's just an excuse for violent people to do violent things; but it's obviously far more complex an issue. Even though this horrible element seems ingrained in the history of human behavior, we all must strive to do (and be) better.
